Setation of male immature stages
Dorsal views : Pictures show the dorsal views of larva, larva -> 1st nymph, 1st nymph, 1st -> 2nd nymph, 2nd nymph, 2nd nymph -> adult, and adult stages of male of Neoseiulus womersleyi. At larval stage, dorsal shield (plate) is not visible, setae grows on the front of dorsal shield, and setae do not grow on the back of dorsal shield. At the 1st nymphal stage, the dorsal shields are visible on front-half area and on back-edge, setal arrangement is same as of adult stage. At the 2nd nymphal stage, two dorsal shields enlarge but not fuse. At adult stage, one dorsal shield develops, and sexes are not distinguished by the arrangement of dorsal setae.
Ventral views : Pictures show the ventral views of larva, larva -> 1st nymph, 1st nymph, 1st -> 2nd nymph, 2nd nymph, 2nd -> adult, adult stages of male of Neoseiulus womersleyi. At larval and the 1st nymphal stages, ventral shields (plates) is not visible, setae (ST1, ST2, ST3) and setae (JV1, JV2, ZV2) grow on the front and back area. At the 2nd nymphal stage, anal shields develop and setae (ST4, ST5) grow on soft skin area. At adult stages, sternal-genital, and ventrinal shields develop. Sexes are distinguished by the ZV1, ZV3, JV4.
