The morphologically-diverse subfamily Amblyseiinae is once divided into two groups by the external appearance.
1. Choose the drawing picture at left if the longest seta, except for Z5, is three times longer than the shortest seta on the dorsal shield. This group is called as "long and short setae" in this section.
2. Choose the drawing picture at right if dfference between longset and shortest setae, except for Z5, is less than three times. This group is called as "similar setae" in this section.
